The success of Lick It Up translated to renewed interest in the band and as strong as Genes contributions were to that effort we could say the opposite of his output on Animalize. At the time Simmons was focused on his role in the feature film, Runaway, an awful Tom Selleck (Magnum PI) vehicle, and much of the filler on this release belongs to him. The albums strongest songs belong entirely to Paul with Under The Gun being the hidden gem gleaming beneath the radiant glow of killer opening track, I've Had Enough (Into The Fire) and the hit Heavens On Fire. Fast and furious, this track is the heaviest on Animalize and features some nice lead work by the mysterious Mark St. John who was Kiss lead guitarist for about a day and a half.
