Kiss: 10 Awesome '80's Songs You've Never Heard

By Reverend Rock /

4. "Under The Gun" from Animalize, 1984

The success of Lick It Up translated to renewed interest in the band and as strong as Gene€™s contributions were to that effort we could say the opposite of his output on Animalize. At the time Simmons was focused on his role in the feature film, €œRunaway€, an awful Tom Selleck (Magnum PI) vehicle, and much of the filler on this release belongs to him. The album€™s strongest songs belong entirely to Paul with €œUnder The Gun€ being the hidden gem gleaming beneath the radiant glow of killer opening track, €œI've Had Enough (Into The Fire) and the hit €œHeaven€™s On Fire€. Fast and furious, this track is the heaviest on Animalize and features some nice lead work by the mysterious Mark St. John who was Kiss€™ lead guitarist for about a day and a half.
