5. Breath

This one€™s a belter. A carry over from the Ten sessions, Breath makes its appearance on the Seattle scene film €˜Singles€™ soundtrack. Back when the band wasn€™t afraid of the odd stadium anthem, the song is awash with excellent lyrics €œIf I knew where it was, I would take you there, there€™s much more than this€, a catchy melody and one of Mike McCready€™s best solo€™s from the era. Despite this, Breath wouldn€™t have fit on Ten or its successor. The band€™s first album features too much similar work, while they had moved on musically by the time Vs. came along. Breath lies exactly where it can be appreciated the most, on lists like this.
