Taken from Load and performed on a rare UK TV appearance in 1996 to promote said work, 'Wasting My Hate' is a song which (lyrically) reflects Hetfields anger at his own mother's death from cancer and not being able to do anything to help her. It's also got the usual drug addicted stories about shooting smack and features a noticeable guitar riff that cuts through anything else on the same album like a steak knife through hot butter. It is definitely one of the most aggressive, and therefore heavier, songs on an album that also features the likes of 'Mama Said' and 'Bleeding Me' (both solid if not mellow tracks) In any case, this is particularly a fan favorite live, obvious from it's inclusion in the band's 30th Anniversary celebrations last Christmas when it was chosen to be included in the set list on the second night. It's a track that doesn't get brought out all that often and which could be just what the audience need. Depending upon the placement of this requested song (and, we're judging on experience, that it will be during the encore performances) this will allow the audience the energy to locate their car keys and drive home safely and full of buzzing energy.
