7. A Playboy Photographer Directed The First Nudie Cutie

Philip Larkin claimed sexual intercourse began in 1963, but according to Eric Schlosser, the poet was out by a decade. It began in December 1953, with the publication of the first issue of Hugh Hefner€™s Playboy. It was Heffner, Schlosser claims, who €œgave the American public something genuinely new: an idealized midwestern vision of the girl next door, who was wholesome, friendly, interested in hobbies €“ and willing to take off her shirt.€ More importantly, he had turned sex into a commodity for mass consumption. This doubtless inspired Playboy photographer Russ Meyer to make The Immoral Mr Teas, which became the first porn film to make a million dollars at the box office and began the trend for €˜nudie cuties€™ €“ playful soft-core productions that had as many jokes as well-endowed starlets.
