Agent Smith embodied everything that the first Matrix film did right. He was a shining example of how a good actor under good direction can take a simple concept and execute it perfectly. Agent Smith epitomised cold and calculating evil, and he was so brilliant that he managed to turn a black suit into a Halloween costume, and the words Mr Anderson into a catchphrase. He was simply one of the coolest bad guys ever. That is why it is completely devastating to see him here shilling GE Hospital products. It would make sense if he was shilling something from GEs weapons manufacturing subsidiaries but healthcare? Since when does Agent Smith care about your organ transplant?The commercial showed the heartbreaking sight of Agent Smith receiving a check up, while he shamelessly boasts about how much good GEs futuristic health care systems will be for humans. These are the same humans it should be pointed out, that absolutely disgusted him, and which he referred to as a virus in the first Matrix film. Its pretty much impossible to see any real menace re-watching the Matrix after youve seen Agent Smith on the end of a tongue depressor
