13. He Had A Terrible Brain Condition

It's not likely to garner him any sympathy, but for a large chunk of his life Stalin suffered from a horrific brain condition. Atherosclerosis, which is a painful build-up of fatty tissue, afflicted his noggin. It has been linked to a number of severe mental conditions and was likely responsible (in part) for the paranoia and malice which inspired a lot of his cruelest acts.
