8. Course Talk Is Just Not Possible

They know just as much about medicine or law as you and can discuss the finer points of your field with you. For almost a year, there's the luxury of being able to talk about something you genuinely have a passion for with people who know what they're talking about. However, those at home are unlikely to have the same love for your chosen subject. The average person doesn't know that much about Scandinavian history or the work of Immanuel Kant. You might be passionate about those topics, but those around you probably aren't.

7. You Are Pressured Into Having An Actual Sleeping Pattern

Mornings fade into afternoons, afternoons fade into nights and nights fade back into mornings. Still, sleep is a blissful myth, especially when exams or assignments are in the horizon. When students do find time for sleep, it could be at almost any time and for any duration. Things are incredibly different at home. Parents are on your case about when you go to sleep and especially about why you keep waking up in the middle of the afternoon. Pretty soon, you'll be forced to develop a sleeping pattern that doesn't involve a weekly multipack of high-caffeine energy drinks.
