13. Staff Covering Shifts Without Clearing It First
Depending on your venues policy about swapping shifts, this may not apply to you. If not, then please consider lighting a candle for the rest of us. Usually, youll have a set group of people working set shifts every week - it helps them keep track of their hours and when to turn up, and it helps you not have an aneurysm every time you come to work. Of course, if they have permission to swap those shifts around amongst themselves, then all of that careful planning flies out of the window. In situations like this, the best case scenario is that you may have one or two of the wrong people working that night, people who arent supposed to be there. The worst case scenario is that you have one or two of the wrong people working that night and thats it, because the others have swapped shifts but neglected to make sure that the person covering them was present, sober or listening at the time that they made the arrangement.
