So your bus shows up late, bummer, but maybe you're one of those people that always seems to be five minutes late for everything anyway.

It looks like this annoyed a lot of scientists as well, because researchers have been trying to figure this one out for years now - why are some people just chronically late, despite the fact that it almost always leads to negative consequences?

There are lots of elements at play, but people generally tend to agree that chronic latecomers are more likely to be optimists. This doesn't mean that they're spending their time looking at clouds and smelling daisies on their way to meetings, but rather that they are overly-optimistic about the amount of tasks they can get done in a short period of time, and how quickly they can get places.

Cute, I guess, but still annoying.

Lateness is also thought by some to be related to whether you are an uptight Type A personality or a laid-back Type B and, surprisingly, some findings suggest that the two personality types actually experience the passage of time differently with a 18-second gap between estimates of the duration of a minute.
