If theres ever a messy situation, Hermione has a deux ex machina spell to save the day. The only reason shes not #1 is because she doesn't always bear up under pressure. In Book 7, she becomes an emotional wreck, bursting into tears at the drop of a hat, which isnt very Gryffindor-esque at all.
