10 Future Manchester United Managers

Where will United turn should Louis van Gaal fail?

By Ross Tweddell /

Since Sir Alex Ferguson decided to call it a day in 2013, Manchester United have fallen from their perch as the dominant force in English football. The Scotsman spent 27 years in the Old Trafford hot seat, winning 13 Premier Leagues, 5 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 2 Champions Leagues, 10 Community Shields, 1 UEFA Cup Winners Cup, 1 UEFA Super Cup, 1 Intercontinental Cup and 1 FIFA Club World Cup. It's no surprise anyone struggled to live up to that. Unfortunately, Ferguson was also the main man behind the appointment of then Everton manager David Moyes as his replacement, which turned out to be a disaster and opened up a route for controversial Dutch boss Louis Van Gaal to drag the club back to success. Whether he will prove to be a success in the longer term remains to be seen, but he doesn't have a track record for staying in jobs a long time, so United will no doubt end up looking towards another dynasty in the next few years. But who could be the man entrusted to be the next long-term man in charge of the Red Devils?

10. Pep Guardiola

In hindsight, United should've snapped Pep up during his year sabbatical from the game instead of appointing David Moyes.

Like many on this list, Guardiola will manage in the Premier League one day. The Red Devils' rivals Manchester City have been linked with his name in the past, but could United win the battle for his signature when his time at Bayern Munich is up?
