Five goals in the space of half an hour dashed the World Cup hosts hopes of winning the tournament in their own backyard before even the half-time whistle had sounded as A Seleção crashed out in ignominious fashion. It was a night of milestones: the scoreline represented Brails joint-heaviest defeat, alongside their 6-0 loss to Uruguay in 1920, and was the biggest ever World Cup semi-final loss suffered by any team and more notably, Brazils reverse was their first on home soil since losing to Peru 1-0 at the 1975 Copa America. It wasnt even a contest: Thomas Muller, Miroslav Klose, Toni Kroos and Sami Khedira put Germany out of sight within 30 minutes as the disbelieving Brazilian fans could only watch on in anguish some crying in the terraces.
