Five goals in the space of half an hour dashed the World Cup host€™s hopes of winning the tournament in their own backyard before even the half-time whistle had sounded as A Seleção crashed out in ignominious fashion. It wasn€™t even a contest: Thomas Muller, Miroslav Klose, Toni Kroos and Sami Khedira put Germany out of sight within 30 minutes as the disbelieving Brazilian fans could only watch on in anguish €“ some crying in the terraces. This wasn€™t a football match €“ it was an annihilation. This game proved that absolutely anything can happen in football, and that we should always expect the unexpected. Down the years, there have been similarly-humiliating World Cup defeats where the underdog has prevailed against all the odds, or a much-fancied favourite have instead been battered.
