10 Modern Spurs Legends Tottenham Fans Idolise
3. Darren Anderton
Darren Anderton was one Tottenhams very best performers for over a decade, throughout the whole of the 1990s and going in to the the early 2000s.
Having signed for a mere £1.75 million from Portsmouth in 1992, "Sicknote" (as he was affectionately known by Spurs fans, due to his horrendous injury record) went on to win the 1999 League Cup with Spurs and was a losing finalist in the same competition three years later against Blackburn Rovers. In his time at Spurs, he regularly attracted interest from Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United and drew comparisons with United and England legend David Beckham.
Anderton left for Birmingham City in 2004 and went on to play for Wolverhampton Wanderers and AFC Bournemouth, before finally retiring in 2008.
