10 Most Brutal Motocross Crashes Of All Time

By James Lycett /

10. James Stewart & Ricky Carmichael At Unadilla, 2005

This may not be the most spectacular crash on the list; but it is iconic. The crash occurred in James Stewart€™s first year in the big class, now all 450cc machines. A prodigy in the smaller ranks, Stewart was expected to come out swinging and make an immediate impact, possibly taking down the greatest of all time Ricky Carmichael. It had not been the year Stewart hoped with Carmichael once again showing his dominance on the 450 Suzuki. Stewart was showing signs of frustration. At the 2005 Unadilla National Stewart got out to an early lead with Carmichael giving chase. Carmichael soon made a move, Stewart looked for retaliation. He looked to jump to the inside of Carmichael on a small drop-off into a sweeping corner. Carmichael held his line. This meant Stewart would land on Carmichaels back, taking both riders down. Stewart was left unconscious, while Carmichael lifted Stewart€™s bike off his own after displaying his frustration and rode away. The king would not be dethroned yet.
