The Magpies also could not find a place in their depleted squad for Haris Vuckic last season - yet the attacking-midfielder produced some promising moments after joining Rangers on loan at the beginning of February, albeit in the Scottish Championship. Vuckic was impressive throughout his time in Scotland, with the 22-year-old Slovenian international having scored nine goals and contributed three assists in 20 matches from attacking-midfield for Rangers after moving on transfer deadline day in January. Although Vuckic could merely just be making up the numbers in pre-season, if McClaren really does get desperate if bodies fail to arrive in the coming weeks then the Slovenian could, in theory, be described as being "like a new signing"...
