10 Players You’ve Never Heard Of Who Could Star At World Cup 2018

4. Hirving Lozano (Mexico)

If you've been keeping up with the top goalscorers around the European leagues, you should have heard of Hirving Lozano, but he's still a relative unknown for casual football fans. By the time the World Cup is over, it's likely that many more people will know his name as Lozano is set to be one of the most exciting players to star at the tournament.

He's only 22 years old, but Lozano has already scored 7 goals for Mexico in 27 appearances and just enjoyed a remarkable debut season with Dutch club PSV after his move from boyhood team Pachuca. At PSV, Lozano scored 17 league goals and contributed 8 assists in 29 games. He won 8 man of the match awards and was one of his club's stars of the season.

Central or South American players can often need a little time to adapt to European climates and playing styles, but Lozano very rapidly adapted to his new surroundings and is already being linked with high-profile transfers to big clubs in England and elsewhere. Fellow countryman Javier Hernandez was a breakout star at the 2010 World Cup, so perhaps Lozano can follow in his footsteps this summer.
