Utd would win the game 2-0 but Keane saw red for stamping on future broadcast colleague Gareth Southgate. A three-match ban and a £5,000 fine would follow. From here on, Keane would amass a total of eleven red cards during his Old Trafford career, including famously being made a fool of by Alan Shearer and for the infamous horror tackle on Alf-Inge Haaland. Some thought that getting the Utd captaincy in 1997 would lead to a calmer, more responsible Keane, and there were several hes a changed man declarations over the years, but Keano would still be near-enough the exact same Keano until his days at the Theatre of Dreams came to an end.
