This one is pretty much a done deal. Anthony Pettis and Gilbert Melendez are currently serving as coaches on Season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter, which is still in production, and at the end of the season (likely towards the end of the year), should all go well, the two will fight for the lightweight title. This will be the second chance at UFC gold for Melendez: he fought Benson Henderson in a title match in April 2013 and lost a close decision (split) that many thought he won. There will likely be no such controversy in a fight with Pettis however. Pettis isn't known for fighting to decision the way Benson Henderson is, so at the end of this bout, we will know who the better man is: the former Strikeforce lightweight champion Melendez, or the final WEC lightweight champion/current UFC lightweight champion Pettis. This one promises to be a doozy.
