When Lee Bowyer challenged Malaga midfielder Gerardo in Leeds' European game with the Spanish side, the former England international lost control of the ball. The tackle from Gerardo was a fair challenge, but once the play had moved on, the Leeds player decided he would get revenge and stomp on Gerardo's head. Bowyer's stupid decision caused outcry from the Malaga bench but because it happened off the ball, the officials completely missed the incident. UEFA did later punish the player with a six-match ban.
