4. Perez Never Gives Up - Even When His Teammates Are Floundering Around Him
Ayoze Perez was, without a shadow of a doubt, Newcastle's standout performer at Bootham Crescent. Even when his teammates were crumbling around him during the second-half, Perez continued to work tirelessly - chasing down lost causes, driving the Magpies forward and creating chance after chance. It took until the 75th minute for the Spaniard to finally be rewarded with a goal on his birthday, but oh how he deserved it. Certainly not one to put on his career highlights reel, as he bundled the ball in at the backpost, but it showed how lethal Perez can be when on form. Hopefully this first pre-season goal can help him continue where he left off last season once the Premier League campaign gets back underway.
