Former Brentford boss Mark Warburton may now have been confirmed as Rangers manager but there was a period when Cathro was the favourite to take over at Ibrox. Immediately after the 28-year-old resigned from his position as Valencia assistant - citing personal reasons as the motivating factor for his decision - many newspaper reports north of the border suggested the Gers originally opted for Cathro to fill their hotseat. Rangers denied ever having made an approach for Cathro but the very fact he was even touted as the next Gers boss - despite them still being in the Scottish Championship - is praise indeed.
