Here's a little not-secret about how fights get titles like "Fight of the Year" - aside from some hardcore MMA fans and a handful of contrarians, most simply go with whatever the big UFC fight of the year was. Yet make no mistake - Alvarez vs. Michael Chandler was easily a fight of the year bout. And surprisingly, at least at the time, so was their rematch. With the series split one fight apiece, it's a shame we'll never see the rubber match (unless Chandler jumps to the UFC at some point, which is unlikely, at least in the short term), but we now have the possibility of fights like Melendez vs. Alvarez and Pettis vs. Alvarez - to which we say, bring 'em on!
