6. Signs Of Life For Lampard's Youth Movement
Frank Lampard looked like he'd seen a ghost following last week's 4-0 thumping at the hands of Man Utd. The scoreline didn't exactly tell the full tale of his young Chelsea side's performance, and yet they had nothing to show for their energy and determination. Would things be different when Frankie boy led his Blues out at Stamford Bridge?
Not really. Sort of. Almost?
There were definite signs of life at the Bridge despite the disappointing 1-1 finish. Chelsea started brightly again before fading, but it is important to note how Leicester's Brendan Rodgers gave inspiring midfield man James Maddison more freedom in the second period. Once he got going, Maddison ran the show, and Chelsea found him difficult to contain.
Expect Chelsea to be an entertaining watch this year. They're rapid going forward (Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic have real potential to be special), and they'll improve defensively once towering CB Antonio RĂ¼diger returns to the first team. Lampard shouldn't be too despondent just yet.
