1. Haris Vuckic/Gael Bigirimana/Shane Ferguson/Kevin Mbabu
The Magpies also could not find a place in their depleted squad for Haris Vuckic last season - yet the attacking-midfielder produced some promising moments after joining Rangers on loan at the beginning of February, albeit in the Scottish Championship. Vuckic was extremely impressive throughout his time in Scotland, with the 22-year-old Slovenian international having scored nine goals and contributed three assists in 20 matches from attacking-midfield for Rangers since moving on transfer deadline day in January. Gael Bigirimana, Shane Ferguson and Kevin Mbabu fared far worse however, managing just a solitary substitute appearance between the three of them as they joined Vuckic and Remie Streete (who has now been released) on loan in Glasgow. Realistically, none of these four players are likely to be in Steve McClaren's plans, regardless of how they perform in pre-season training - with only Vuckic and possibly Ferguson ever likely to become first-team regulars. However, the fact they have not done so previously suggests there is little hope for them now. They could merely just be making up the numbers in pre-season... And now for a couple of faces who won't be back...
