Arsenal Transfer News: Robin Van Persie Demands £10 million A Year

Dutchman wants close to £200k a week to tempt him to make any move

The Sun are reporting that Robin Van Persie wants £10 million a year regardless of who he joins this summer. The 28-year-old announced a few weeks back that he would sign another contract at Arsenal, and sparked a whirlpool of media frenzy linking him with a host of clubs as a result. Both Manchester United and Man City, as well as Juventus and Barcelona were credited as having expressed their interest in the striker, although it appears that they will have to pay huge salary demands if they want the Dutchman. As reported in the Guardian, Manchester United have already had a bid rejected for Arsenal€™s top goalscorer last year, and Juventus similarly had an early offer rebuffed (according to ESPN) although these reported demands of what equates to £195,000 a week might put many teams off the deal. United and Juve will face a battle to sign the Dutchman, if Arsene Wenger holds out for the highest fee possible, as according to the Daily Mail, Manchester City are ready to hijack any deal for the signature of the lethal striker. Van Persie has already said he will reject all contract offers from Arsenal, and he may find the money he desires elsewhere with both Manchester clubs able to offer players inflated contracts, with Yaya Toure on £225,000 and Wayne Rooney receiving £200,000-a-week. The Dutchman initially expressed his need to leave for the good of his ambitions, and as means to winning trophies, but these contract demands may well convince some Arsenal fans that he is motivated instead by how much money he can make from a big move after his successful 2012/13 season. Would he be worth the money? Share your thoughts below.
