Arsenal Transfers: 10 Dream Signings Wenger Still Needs To Make

By David Fribbins /

10. Morgan Schneiderlin

While the mass exodus at Southampton shows little sign of relenting, Arsenal could stand to profit in the shape of defensive midfielder, Morgan Schneiderlin. The young, battling French midfielder would be a perfect fit in the Gunners midfield, shadowing the ever dominant Mathieu Flamini in his favoured holding role as the elder Frenchman's legs slow down a little more. Last season Schneiderlin managed to keep Ozil and Cazorla fairly quiet throughout the 180 minutes that they played against one another, and his tireless work ethic and great positioning meant that he was on hand to hound Arsenal's creative maestros. He is strong in the tackle, a consistent, forward passer of the ball and he has no problem with sitting deep and watching the game unfold in front of him, all of which are the kind of qualities that Arsenal need to add with Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in the same side. Schneiderlin would also represent the perfect long term replacement for Flamini when he inevitably hangs his boots up, or heads out for pastures new before he's put out to graze completely.
