6. Marc Overmars

Continuing with the Dutch theme is "the Roadrunner" Marc Overmars, who picked up the nickname for his pace which left many a full back trailing in his wake. A right footed left winger, Overmars made Arsenal a serious counter attacking threat and was the perfect foil for Bergkamp. Overmars was signed for £5.5 million from Ajax in 1997 and was instrumental in winning Arsenal the double with a goal in the F.A. Cup final and the winner in a crucial league match at Old Trafford. In 2000 Overmars was sold to Barcelona for £25 million, a shrewd sale for Overmars was blighted by injury in Catalonia and never looked the same player again.
