Arsenal Transfers: 5 AVAILABLE Strikers Wenger Should Sign

By Sam Tighe /

The Guardian reported earlier this month that Edinson Cavani was a player of interest, but are the Gunners really going to meet the Uruguayan's ‚60 million release clause? Arsenal have always shied away from spending, and prime-time targets just don't materialise into signings in North London. Here's five strikers who are available, affordable and eager to impress on the highest stage.

5. Seydou Doumbia

The biggest reach of the five, a prime striking target lays in Russia in the form of Seydou Doumbia. The Ivory Coast international is currently on duty in South Africa with Didier Drogba and co. making it tough€”but not impossible€”to thrash out a deal, and the CSKA Moscow chiefs will be hoping he doesn't pull up too many trees if he's given a chance. He's coming off a nasty herniated disc injury, but it wasn't too long ago the Ivorian netted 39 goals in one season while adding 12 assists too. He's quick, he's powerful and he's accurate€”sadly all the things Olivier Giroud isn't at the moment. What's stopping the deal? It's not like Arsene Wenger hasn't sent his scouts to Russia before having already secured the services of Andrey Arshavin, but CSKA manager Leonid Slutskiy has eased Doumbia back after injury and has simultaneously kept him off the radar. His output is worth over ‚12 million, but will any club risk the fee before seeing a post-injury season filled with goals?
