With Newcastle rejecting Arsenal's overtures for Yohan Cabaye, Wenger could be looking for a midfield alternative before the transfer window slams shut next Monday. Real Madrid's Mesut Ozil would be a good buy. The attacking midfielder has been one of Real Madrid's best players over the last two years but could see his playing time at the Bernabeu vanish this season when Gareth Bale makes his expected arrival from Tottenham. And the Germany international is thought to be angry that he is being linked with a move away in order to both pay for and make room for Bale, storming out of Real's 1-0 win at Granada and heading straight for the team bus after being substituted. And those actions could hasten a move away this summer with Arsenal monitoring developments closely. The Gunners could use a new, attack-minded midfielder, especially taking into account Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is out with a long-term knee injury, while Mikel Arteta and Abou Diaby are out with thigh and knee injuries respectively. There's certainly room for Ozil at Emirates Stadium, though the same cannot be said of his current position in the Spanish capital. Another player with bags of Champions League experience, Ozil could also form an intriguing partnership with Germany team-mate Lukas Podolski.
