Suarez's apparent desire to swap Liverpool for London is confusing, considering everything he has said in recent months. The Uruguayan has told anyone who will listen that he is the subject of a witch hunt by "the nasty British press", complaining that "My family have suffered and things got out of hand. My daughter and my wife have suffered. I'm not prepared to continue to put up with the English press" and that "I suffered too much as a kid to get where I am to be attacked unfairly by the English press. They haven't appreciated me as a player, they've just judged my attitude." Someone pass my a tissue. All of the negative press the fiery South American has accrued recently has been of his own making. It wasn't a journalist who bit Ivanovic, nor was it a journalist behind many of his other "misdemeanors" scattered throughout his career, which we will get to shortly. Yet Suarez won't accept that. He is convinced he is being hounded by the English press, something which will surely not change if he moves to the Emirates. He will always be unsettled for that reason and a move abroad makes better sense.
