Arsenal Transfers: 8 Players Wenger Must Sign
3. Mateo Kovacic
Santi Cazorla's injury troubles last season dealt an enormous blow to the Gunners' title chances, and with the Spaniard set to be on the sidelines for at least part of the upcoming campaign, Arsenal badly need someone who can pull the strings from midfield.
Mateo Kovacic, whose position in the Real Madrid squad has been thrown into doubt by the arrival of Dani Ceballos, could be a capable replacement.
Like Cazorla, the Croatian international has the passing range and vision required to retain possession in midfield and release forward runners with eye-of-the-needle through balls.
In short, he's exactly the sort of player Arsene Wenger loves, and - with Real Madrid looking to raise some cash - would probably come fairly cheap relative to many players on the move this summer.
