Aston Villa quickly found themselves ridiculed following Paul Lamberts arrival as manager as the Scot quickly built up a reputation for procuring obscure Football League talent with at most limited success. And one such signing that left many supporters scratching their heads was of striker Jordan Bowery who arrived from Chesterfield - a team sitting three divisions below the Claret and Blues at the time - for a comparative fortune in that division's terms. The 23-year-old had scored just 14 goals in 87 games for the League Two side, but that was apparently enough to convince Lambert to sign him for £350K - as an indication of how odd the move was, the Chesterfield supporters didnt seem too fussed that Bowery had left the club at the time, presumably because they'd just pocketed £350k to invest in players who might score them more goals. As expected, Bowery failed to adapt to the Premier League and found himself loaned out last season, before being finally released this summer, equally unsurprisingly.
