Aston Villa Transfers: 5 Reasons Why Paul Lambert Shouldn't Buy Wes Hoolahan

4. The Reunion Between Hoolahan, Holt And Lambert May Not Work As Well As Believed

As a continuation of the previous point, there seems to be an idea that combining Holt, Hoolahan and Lambert is some kind of secret to success. I can understand where this idea comes from to some extent since the trio worked so well together with Norwich. However, it€™s important to remember that when the three were brought together, the Canaries were in League One. At that level of football, they certainly looked very good. However, we are now talking about the elite level of Premier League football and both Holt and Hoolahan are both in their 30€™s, so it might well be that it wouldn€™t quite work now at this level €“ and even if it does it doesn€™t seem to be the long-term way forward for Villa. It€™s also worth noting that we have seen in this great sport plenty of time in the past when something has worked particularly well at a certain club, but when it€™s tried to be recreated at a different club things have all gone a bit wrong. My concern is that Lambert is trying to recreate what he had at Norwich, rather than finding the right way forward for Aston Villa.
