Please note, this involves picking such a small number of players from such a large selection that the idea is to create discussion. I in no way expect people to 100% agree with my selections, because choosing a 'correct' selection of players for this topic is nigh on impossible and merely a matter of opinion. Let's first take a look at England's team...

Goalkeeper: David Seaman

No English goalkeeper has performed as well for club and country in the Premiership years as David Seaman. 'Safe Hands', as he was affectionately known, won the Premier League title twice in his Arsenal years (as well as winning the old First Division with them before it became the Premier League) and was generally regarded as being one of the best two keepers in the league, along with Manchester United's Peter Schmeichel, in the 1990's. Now 49 years of age, Seaman is long-retired, having ended his playing days with Manchester City in 2004. He will, however, always be remembered as a fantastic goalkeeper for both club and country and is undoubtedly the best English shot-stopper that the Premier League has seen so far. Honorary mentions: Joe Hart, Tim Flowers, Paul Robinson, Nigel Martyn, David James, Dave Beasant.
