On Saturday, Borussia Dortmund lost in the league for the first time this season after Monchengladbach recorded a 2-0 win which moved them up to 4th. Late goals from Kruse, a penalty in the 81st minute, and Raffael left Dortmund with nothing and gave rivals Bayern Munich the chance to pull ahead. However, the Bavarians could only muster a draw against Bayern Leverkusen. The point sent them top of the league but only a point ahead of Dortmund. Kroos opened the scoring on the half hour mark but Sam equalised very soon after and earned his side a point which moved them level with Dortmund. Midtable sides Mainz and Hoffenheim played out a 2-2 draw, with the visitors throwing away a two goal lead late on. Volland put Hoffenheim ahead after 14 minutes and Firmino doubled the advantage 8 minutes later. However, Choupo-Moting pulled one back for the home side with 8 minutes remaining and Noveski completed the comeback in added time. Schalke had a poor start to the season but have started to come back, with their latest victory being against Augsburg in a game that finished 4-1. Molders opened the scoring and put Augsburg ahead 10 minutes into the game but Boateng equalised from the penalty spot 6 minutes later. Szalai then gave Schalke the lead before half-time and then grabbed his second of the game after the restart, with Meyer scoring late on to extend the lead. The result lifted Schalke to 8th, while Augsburg sit in 12th. Stuttgart and Werder Bremen drew 1-1, leaving both sides with 11 points. Harnik put Stuttgart ahead after just 6 minutes but Petersen was able to equalise before half-time. In the other game on Saturday, Eintracht Braunschweig secured their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory awat at Wolfsburg. Bellarabi opened the scoring just after the half hour mark and Kumbela sealed the points for the visitors 4 minutes from time. Despite the victory, Braunschweig still occupy bottom place in the league. On Sunday, struggling Hamburg smashed 5 past Nuremburg to move 3 points ahead of them. A hat-trick from Lasogga, along with goals from Van Der Vaart and Arslan, secured a valuable 3 points for the visitors. In the final game of the weekend, Freiburg drew 1-1 with Frankfurt.
