One of the biggest reasons for bringing someone new in is because those currently in the side dont look capable of doing the job. In modern day football, its always very hard to evaluate the quality of strikers this is because so many teams play with just the one forward at a time. However, the teams that do have that player that can grab 20-25 league goals as well as options from the bench are usually the ones that finish top of the pile. The concern with Chelsea is they dont seem to have either the bench option or a striker that can impact the game properly when starting games. This season the clubs top scorer is Eden Hazard who has scored eight times, the problem is he isnt a striker or likely to score enough to win the club the league title. Looking through the players that would be considered orthodox forwards, Fernando Torres and Samuel Etoo have only scored three goals apiece. Demba Ba has had a really tough time getting regular games at the club, and has only managed to score once this season. This is all rather frustrating for manager Mourinho, especially when he looks at what Romelu Lukaku is currently doing on loan at Everton from Chelsea. The Belgium forward has scored nine EPL goals from 15 games for the Toffees.
