David Moyes has denied that is in line to become the next Newcastle United head coach despite reports claiming he is due to take over at St James' Park this summer. The former Manchester United manager only moved to Spain to become Real Sociedad boss in November and Moyes has now stated he is "not going anywhere" this summer. Reports in the Daily Star claimed Moyes had already agreed to become Magpies boss, and that he would take over the reins from interim head coach John Carver at the end of the season.
But Moyes has moved to dispel those rumours and reiterate his commitment to Sociedad. He told the Guardian on Wednesday:
"I'll be here (at Sociedad next season). I'm not going anywhere. "I'm going to be here. I want to try to get everything in place so we can be at our best for the start of next season."
Former Manchester United and Everton boss Moyes is currently in charge of Real Sociedad, having been appointed in November, and he has steered the club to mid-table in La Liga.
Derby County boss Steve McClaren turned down the opportunity to take control at St James€™ Park for the crucial final three games of the season, while the agent of Ajax boss Frank de Boer has insisted the Dutchman does not want to leave the Eredivisie club. Saint-Etienne€™s Christophe Galtier, Real Madrid first-team coach Paul Clement and former Olympiacos boss Michel Gonzalez are just some of the other names to be linked to the Magpies hotseat in recent days.
