Andrea Dossena was a horrific player for Liverpool from the second he completed his £7 million transfer from Italian side, Udinese. He had actually played at international level for Italy even though he had difficulty completing a five yard pass. In Dossena's defense, he knew he was struggling and was a liability at left back but Benitez stayed with him. Dossena, in his short stay at Anfield is most famous for scoring against both Real Madrid and Manchester United in the space of a week. At the beginning at his sophomore season at Liverpool, Dossena's squad number was changed from 2 to 38, which was essentially the writing on the wall as both parties looked for a transfer. Dossena was a spectacular bomb at Liverpool and that £7 million could have been spent in a million other places, rather than an inept Italian. After six months stagnating out of the squad he was quietly moved on to Napoli, where he has actually been impressing.
