On the one hand you have Coutinho, Raheem Sterling, Allen, Sturridge, and on the other Gerrard, Reina, Lucas, Johnson. Together they bring the right mix of energy, hunger, know-how, intelligence, experience, determination and raw ability to succeed. Liverpool look to have a team who can adapt and handle pretty much any event: enough old heads to deal with a match against Everton or United, enough naive players to perhaps play with freedom in the big games. Players who can maintain composure if a goal does not come and time is running out, and a group of players who can add urgency to Liverpool€™s play to get that goal. Sure, the flip side of this argument is that the old players legs are going, and the youngsters lack experience, but there is a good blend of players in their prime, just over the hill, and ready to make a splash, which should mean Rodgers has all the bases covered.
