Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers looks to have completed his third signing of the transfer window with the capture of Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin on a season-long loan deal. Football Agent 49 confirmed the move on Twitter within the past hour, claiming the formalities of the deal will be tied up by the weekend. They wrote; https://twitter.com/FootballAgent49/status/235752606570516480 The Guardian first reported Sahin's move to Liverpool as a rumour yesterday and it now firmly looks like the Reds have snatched the Turkish midfielder from under the noses of Arsenal, who until the last few days looked certain to capture the Madrid player. Sahin, who turns 24-years-old next month is a former Borussia Dortmund midfielder who has struggled to become a first team regular in La Liga, making only four appearances since he joined Madrid in an £8 million move last summer. After finding it nearly impossible to break into Madrids title winning side and get ahead of the likes of Mesut Ozil, Kaka, Xabi Alonso and Esteban Granero, he now has to contend with the likes of new signing Joe Allen, the forgotten man Joe Cole, Charlie Adam, Steven Gerrard and Lucas for a place in the Reds line-up. From the looks of things, it doesn't seem likely that Sahin will be available for the Reds' first game of the new season, away at West Brom on Saturday.
