Liverpool have reportedly joined the race for Celtic's defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama, who has been watched "extensively" by Brendan Rodgers recently. The Northern Irishman has made strengthening his defence a priority this summer and is thought to be keen on an attacking midfielder, yet the Kenyan's versatility in being capable of playing at centre-back is tempting Rodgers into making a move. Considering Jamie Carragher is set to retire at the end of the season, it couldn't hurt to have a player of Wanyama's ilk in the squad. He is powerfully built, commanding in the air and scores goals - such as against Barcelona in that famous win for the Hoops in the Champions League. It is believed the midfielder would be available for around £10 million, but is also being tracked by both Manchester clubs, as well as Arsenal, Everton and Sunderland.
