Liverpool vs Chelsea: Match Preview, Key Players & Likely Line-Ups

Key Players To Watch

Chelsea Eden Hazard The Belgian has blended well into the system of play at Chelsea. With 8 goals and 12 assists in the league this season Hazard who has been deployed on the wing for most of the season has also been influential playing a part in crucial match winning goals. The Liverpool back four will have a difficult time trying to contain him. Juan Mata Recently nominated as PFA player of the year along with team mate Edin Hazard, Mata€™s stature has grown game after game. With 18 goals and 29 assists in all competitions so far Mata has proved to be invaluable to the Blues. He will be an important influence playing off the main striker. Peter Cech The Chelsea €˜keeper will have to be at his absolute best if he is to keep the runs of Suarez at bay. Anything less than a top drawer performance will mean almost certain defeat at the hands of the Reds. Cech has conceded quite a number of goals this season but is third on the clean sheets log with 13 so far this season.

LIVERPOOL

Luis Suarez Luis Suarez stands out as the outstanding player in Liverpool€™s squad this season. An ever present threat Suarez has greatly improved his disciplinary record this season and with 22 goals to his credit in the league the tricky Uruguyan will offer a potent challenge to the Blues defence. Phillipe Coutinho Southampton Manager Mauricio Pochettino once described the talented 20 year old Brazilian as the next Lionel Messi. And this is not an exaggerated comparison. A recent acquisition at Liverpool Coutinho has been a revelation since joining them. His skill on the ball, deft touches and clever passes have invigorated the Anfield club. He will be a crucial component if Liverpool are to conjure a win on Sunday. Steven Gerrard No article on a Liverpool game would be complete without mentioning Steven Gerrard. Though moving on in years his mastery in the middle of the park still remains a vital part of the Liverpool attack. Gerrard lives for big clashes such as this and it wouldn€™t be a surprise if he were to score a goal. The key battles will be in the midfield and in attack Torres will have to exorcise his Anfield ghosts if he is to pose a challenge upfront. It is a difficult game to predict but going by past form in this match up I tip Liverpool to prevail by the odd goal over Chelsea. Who do you think will win? Share your thoughts below.
