In October 2011, midway through the first half of a Merseyside Derby between Liverpool and Everton, Jack Rodwell was shown a red card for a foul on Luis Suarez which replays later showed was a fair challenge. Liverpool would later go on to beat ten-man Everton at Goodison Park 2-0. Rodwell's red card was later overturned upon appeal, proving it was a fair tackle, and a disgruntled David Moyes claims Suarez' play acting ruined the game.
