As of yet Giggs€™ style of football has not yet been finalised, but judging by his four games in charge last season it would appear that the 40-year-old will follow in the steps of Sir Alex Ferguson. Like his former boss, Giggs advocated attacking play and a direct style during his time as interim boss. In contrast, van Gaal is a clear believer in Total Football. Players have to be multi-dimensional, quick, technical, strong, able to attack and defend. It creates a fluid and transitional style of play, which sees players cropping up in a number of positions. It remains to be see how engrained into the €˜United Way€™ Giggs is, but if does not adhere to van Gaal€™s way of football then the two will fall out. For the Dutchman there is no other way to play.
