As of yet Giggs style of football has not yet been finalised, but judging by his four games in charge last season it would appear that the 40-year-old will follow in the steps of Sir Alex Ferguson. Like his former boss, Giggs advocated attacking play and a direct style during his time as interim boss. In contrast, van Gaal is a clear believer in Total Football. Players have to be multi-dimensional, quick, technical, strong, able to attack and defend. It creates a fluid and transitional style of play, which sees players cropping up in a number of positions. It remains to be see how engrained into the United Way Giggs is, but if does not adhere to van Gaals way of football then the two will fall out. For the Dutchman there is no other way to play.
