In his post-match press conference, a visibly frustrated David Moyes bemoaned his side's draw with Fulham and claimed his side deserved to win the game. The Scot told assembled reporters at full-time:
We deserved to win the game, we deserved to get back in the game even when it was 2-1 with about five minutes left Fulham never came up the pitch so it was nearly a case of just play out the time. We gave away a diabolical second goal. If we had one failing it was that we should have gone on to win 3-1 we had the chances after 2-1 to make it 3-1 and we didnt make those moments count.
And he has a point. Even the most ardent of Fulham fans would struggle to argue against the fact their side enjoyed a lot of luck at Old Trafford on Sunday. With just 25% possession, the Cottagers were played off the park and hemmed in their own half having to make do with counter-attacking football. Yes, they made the most of their three shots on target by scoring twice but the goals were against the grain and this result scarcely paints a full picture. Rene Meuelensteen still has a lot of problems to tackle at Craven Cottage this season and while this result may yet boost his side's survival hopes, United fans can be forgiven for feeling bitter.
