Man Utd Transfers: 9 Worst Signings Of The Post-Ferguson Era

2. Angel Di Maria

Angel Di Maria came with a huge reputation from his time at Real Madrid, where he had four successful years and also played a big role in Argentina's run up to the 2014 World Cup finals.

So even though Manchester United had to smash the British transfer record, for a third time in the history, for his services and pay £59.7 million, the deal still seemed like a coup. If only Di Maria could live up to that price tag too.

After a bright start which saw him pick up the 'player of the month' award in September for two goals and assists each, his form plunged into a downward spiral and never recovered. Di Maria plumbed new depths with a series of subpar performances, but hit rock bottom when he was sent off for a brush up with the referee in the FA Cup loss to Arsenal.

Di Maria was sold to PSG later that summer, after only 27 games in the Premier League, but has since found his feet again with the French giants.
