Man Utd Transfers: Fellaini Set For Italian Switch?

Belgian linked with a move away, which may make Man Utd fans quite happy.

Most of the talk surrounding Manchester United's transfer window activity has centred on who they might be bringing in, but now speculation turns to who might leave, with reports in Italy suggesting Marouane Fellaini could be headed for the Old Trafford exit. Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera(via Sky Sports) are reporting that the Belgian midfielder is a target for AC Milan, with either a permanent deal or a loan for the remainder of the season. Fellaini hasn't had the easiest of times at Manchester United since his deadline day move from Everton back in September 2013, with the man who brought him to the club - David Moyes - being sacked, and replacement Louis van Gaal using him as something of a desperation striking option, drawing fans' ire for the use of long-ball football when he's deployed as a makeshift 'number 9'. He's fallen further down the pecking order since the summer arrivals of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, making just 8 Premier League appearances so far this season. With Euro 2016 on the horizon this summer, it's understandable that he may want to move in order to play first-team football, and Milan - who currently sit in sixth place in Serie A - could offer him that, as they look to boost their chances of securing Champions League football next year. However, whether Manchester United would be willing to let him leave at this stage of the season, either on loan or a permanent basis, remains to be seen, while you would also expect they would want to recoup most of the £27.5m they paid for him, which may be beyond Milan's budget. Do you think selling Fellaini would be good business for Man Utd? Let us know in the comments.
