New Chelsea Manager: 5 Best Options Now Pep Guardiola Is No Longer Available

By Joseph Dempsey /

1. Jose Mourinho

Top of this list had to be Jose Mourinho, really. The 49-year old's ascent up the ranks of world football was unparalleled, and few will forget (particularly Man United fans) the sight of the then-relatively unknown Porto manager sliding on his knees down the Old Trafford touchline as he masterminded a dramatic upset to knock the Red Devils out of the Champions League before winning the competition in 2004. After that, Mourinho moved to Chelsea, where he won back-to-back Premier League titles. He eventually left Stamford Bridge "by mutual consent" although he did have a strained relationship with Abramovic at the time and some say he was pushed out of the club. Even so, Chelsea would welcome the Portuguese back in a heart-beat. He has one of the most impressive CV's in world football today, after winning a second Champions League with Inter Milan and La Liga with Real Madrid last season.
