Newcastle United target Charlie Austin "will be moving on" from Queens Park Rangers this summer "if the owners get the right money", admits Chris Ramsey. The west London club's boss believes Austin would be a "big loss" to any side, but knows that if one of the several Barclays Premier League clubs chasing him meets QPR's £15 million asking price then he will leave Loftus Road. Austin started QPR's 2-0 opening-day defeat to Charlton Athletic but that could potentially be his final game for the club.
And, speaking after the game to TalkSport, Ramsey said of Austin:
"He would be a big loss for any club in any division. "He's going to be a massive gain for anybody that has the money to buy him. If the owners get the right money, I think he will be moving on. "The QPR fans have showed him absolutely fantastic support, and I think QPR as a club have helped him to be on the stage that he is now."
Leicester City are known to have had a £12 million offer turned down earlier in the summer, but several other Premier League clubs are also believed to be interested - including the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, West Ham United, Crystal Palace, AFC Bournemouth and the Magpies. The 26-year-old netted 18 Premier League goals last season and is one of the most sought-after strikers in England, plus he is entering the final year of his QPR contract.
