Claude Paris/AP/Press Association ImagesNewcastle United have agreed a deal with Montpellier to sign Remy Cabella, according to breaking news reports. French journalist Laurens Julian has claimed on Twitter that the Magpies have reached agreement with the French club, whose president Laurent Nicollin has been quoted as saying: "We have a deal". 23-year-old Cabella was part of France's 23-man squad at this summer's World Cup, but suffered injury and didn't make a single appearance at the tournament in Brazil. However, he did make 40 appearances for Montpellier last season, and netted 14 times as well as provided eight assists. TwitterHis ability and style of play has been compared to that of Hatem Ben Arfa, and he will being both pace and scoring ability to St James' Park if the move goes ahead, as reported. Cabella can also operate on the wing or in central attacking midfield, behind the centre forward. Newcastle have been linked with Cabella in the past, and failed with a big-money move for the France international in the January transfer window, while Nicollin has previously suggested he would not sell to the north east side. However, it appears as though they have finally got their man, ending a long-winded pursuit of the midfield star.
